There are some changes happening in the background of our new RESO compliant Matrix system that will affect Incomplete listings. For most people, these changes will be largely unnoticed - at least not directly. But they will have a significant effect on the system itself.
First, Incomplete listings will only be stored in Matrix for a maximum of 6 months in the new system, after which point they will be dropped. Listings that are in Coming Soon-No Show, Active, or any other status will not be affected, and will still be kept forever. However, the number of Incomplete listings currently saved in Matrix is higher than the number of listings that have been placed on the market at one time or another - meaning half of all saved listings have never been seen by anyone but the agent who created them.
Second, Incomplete listings will no longer be "indexed" by the Matrix search. This means they will not be available in any search "Results" lists. It was already not possible to search for Incomplete listings directly in our current system, but listing agents could view their own Incomplete listings in a fully functional Results page by viewing the "My Incomplete Listings" list on the "My Listings" page and clicking the link that says "Click here to run this as a full search".
In the new system it will still be possible to view the "My Incomplete Listings" list, but the option to run that as a "full search" will not be available. As was mentioned earlier, our current system stores more Incomplete status listings than all other listing statuses combined. This had a drastic effect on Matrix's ability to count search results as you enter criteria into a new search, or to display the results. By removing Incomplete listings from the search feature of Matrix, our system engineers have found the search system performance increased by as much as 30-40%!
