Current Cycle: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2027
The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) requires all REALTOR® members to complete Code of Ethics (COE) training once during each three-year cycle.
This FAQ explains the requirement, available training options, and the consequences of non-compliance.
Who is required to complete Code of Ethics training?
All REALTOR® members are required by NAR to complete one approved Code of Ethics training course during each three-year cycle.
What is the current Code of Ethics cycle?
The current NAR Code of Ethics training cycle is:
January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2027
All REALTOR® members must complete an approved Code of Ethics course during this period.
What is Canopy's deadline for reporting completion?

Prompt submission helps ensure member records are updated accurately and prevents delays in reflecting compliance.
What happens if I do not complete the requirement?
Members who do not complete the NAR Code of Ethics requirement during the current cycle, or whose completion cannot be verified, are subject to having their membership status changed from REALTOR® to Non-Member.
As a Non-Member:
- You may not use the REALTOR® trademark.
- You may not advertise or represent yourself as a REALTOR®.
- REALTOR® references must be removed from business cards, marketing materials, websites, social media profiles, email signatures, and other promotional materials.
In addition, the Designated REALTOR® (DR) for the office will be assessed the annual Non-Member assessment fee of $561 as part of REALTOR® dues and will be responsible for payment.
