07/25/2025 - International Access to Matrix

As you may know, Cotality (formerly CoreLogic) recently required all MLSs nationwide to have members reset their passwords. In addition, Cotality has restricted platform access from several countries.

To put this in context, Cotality supports over one million agents and sends two billion emails annually. These security measures extend far beyond Canopy MLS and were not taken lightly. Their primary goal is to protect system integrity and ensure agents can work—not to prevent access while you're on vacation abroad.

The good news: We anticipate many of these international restrictions will be lifted next week. Users who reside or travel outside the U.S. should soon be able to access Matrix as usual.

However, please note that Canopy MLS cannot guarantee access to Matrix from every country at all times. Future security threats could lead to new restrictions. Cotality’s security team may take additional steps to protect your data and business operations—but always with the goal of keeping you working.

If you plan to travel abroad, consider these options to stay prepared in case your access is restricted:

1. Setup Identity Sharing (This is NOT password sharing, which is a violation and carries a heavy fine.)

Set up identity sharing with a trusted agent in your office before you travel. This allows them to work on your behalf in Matrix, using their own login and password.

2. Virtual Private Network (VPN)

VPN services like ExpressVPN, NordVPN, or Surfshark may allow you to access Matrix while abroad. However, VPN use is restricted or illegal in some countries—please ensure you comply with local laws.

3. Paragon MLS System

We will soon roll out the Paragon MLS platform by ICE. While it may involve a learning curve, it could serve as an alternative option during outages.

4. Static IP Address

If you access Matrix from a fixed location outside the U.S. (e.g., a virtual assistant), you may qualify for a static IP address. In such cases, we can request Cotality to whitelist that IP to help avoid future access issues. This option is intended for ongoing, fixed-location use.

Thank you for your patience during this event. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure secure and reliable system access for all users.
