With the 2018-2019 school year, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools are beginning a program to transition school assignments for two different middle schools - Sedgefield Middle School and Alexander Graham Middle School. The Mecklenburg County public records "GeoPortal" for properties in these school districts lists both middle schools, rather than one, and some listing agents have raised questions about how to report the school assignments on their listings.
Canopy MLS recommends using the school assignment for grade 6 for the property, with the option to add a note in the "Public Remarks" field regarding the grades 7 and 8 assignment, through the end of this school year. Over the course of the next two years, these school assignments will completely transition from one to the other. Below are the planned assignments, including the phasing between the two middle schools, as described by CMS Planning Services:

Dilworth Paired school beginning 2018-2019

- Dilworth Elementary School: Latta Campus (grades 3-5)

- Dilworth Elementary School: Sedgefield (grades Pk-2)
- Middle school students will attend Sedgefield middle for grade 6 for 2019-2020; and Alexander Graham for grade 7-8 while continuing to phase all students to Sedgefield middle each additional year (due to 2018-19 effective boundary change all students in the Dilworth boundaries phasing into Sedgefield middle instead of Alexander Graham).
Eastover elementary
- Middle school students will attend Sedgefield middle for grade 6 for 2019-2020
- Alexander Graham for grade 7-8 while continuing to phase all students to Sedgefield middle each additional year (due to 2018-19 school board vote on change)
Montclaire elementary
- Middle school students will attend Alexander Graham middle for grade 6 for 2019-2020
- Sedgefield middle for grade 7-8 while continuing to phase all students to Alexander Graham middle each additional year (due to 2018-19 school board vote on change)
Pinewood elementary
- Middle school students will attend Alexander Graham middle for grade 6 for 2019-2020
- Sedgefield middle for grade 7-8 while continuing to phase all students to Alexander Graham middle each additional year (due to 2018-19 school board vote on change)
